Discover the perfect solution for eco-friendly diapering with our organic cotton prefolds, designed to provide comfort and absorbency for your little one. These prefolds are an excellent value alternative, crafted from soft, unbleached cotton, making them gentle against your baby's skin.
Our prefolds are a low-cost system that pairs beautifully with stylish nappy covers, allowing you to reduce laundry loads while maintaining a chic look. Simply remove the absorbent cotton inserts when wet or soiled, clean the cover if necessary, and replace it with a fresh prefold for effortless reuse.
Each prefold features multiple layers of fabric sewn together and divided into thirds, with the outer two-thirds consisting of four layers of cotton and the middle third containing eight layers. This design results in a remarkable 16 layers of cotton in the wet zone when tri-folded, ensuring maximum absorbency where it’s needed most.
The layered construction not only enhances absorbency but also keeps the diaper trim, allowing regular trousers and jeans to fit comfortably. Additionally, the unique design contributes to a shorter drying time compared to traditional single-piece designs.
Upon receiving your prefolds, you will find them flat and smooth. After the first wash, they will soften, shrink slightly, and fluff up, creating a lovely quilted texture. For optimal performance, wash the prefolds three times at 60 degrees before use to remove natural oils and increase absorbency, which will continue to improve with each wash, reaching peak performance after approximately 10 washes.
For heavy wetters, consider adding an extra absorbent insert. The prefold can be wrapped around the insert before placing it in the cover, while hemp inserts should be positioned between the prefold and cover for best results.
